Bicycles are a great way to see Cape May! If you are an early riser, beat the crowds and the heat and ride the promenade until 10 am. The sunrise over the beach is a sight to remember. Or take a lock and key with you and stop somewhere for breakfast or lunch. You can explore the marina district, the Victorian architecture, and neighboring towns - all at your own leisurely pace. The Nature Center of Cape May offers interesting programs for the entire family located near the Coast Guard Base. The center of town provides beautiful views of quiet gardens and historic homes. Lock your bike up at the end of the Washington Street Mall and browse the three blocks of stores and restaurants for those irresistable deals. Be sure to ride over to West Cape May on Tuesday evenings for the local farmers market featuring a variety of fresh foods and unique treasures sold by local vendors - fill your bike basket! Cape May Point's lighthouse, WWII lookout tower, and concrete ship are all within riding distance (take West Perry Street to Sunset Boulevard). Cape May Point is also the place to go for amazing sunsets. The island of Wildwood is a little farther, but still a good ride - if you feel up to two bridges! Ask for a map and remember to always lock your bike as you are responsible for your rental at all times. Bicyclists are also required to follow all traffic rules as a car would and must ride in the streets, riding on the sidewalks is prohibited.
